The Role
The Sales Manager APC Greater China for the Germanic Tradelane is responsible for the development and maintenance of customers and their cargo offering full scale air, ocean, logistics services and value-added services in Greater China. Responsible for growth of business in the area to meet targeted revenue, gross profit, and operative income goals and plans. This role requires about 70% of the time spent is direct selling independently or in team with colleagues; ideally the remaining 30% will be spent with Product development. The employee will be employed locally. Remuneration and benefits to be discussed depending on experience, career ambitions, languages proficiency, would always have a fixed part and a variable part. The place of work would preferably be Shanghai.
The Responsibilities
- Protect and improve the policies and plans in accordance with the company’s overall business goals, objectives, philosophy.
- Be an Expert for the Germanic trade lane for customers and with internal partners. Develops together with the Procurement colleagues, a portfolio of products that are in line with the customer expectations.
- Collaborate with team members globally to develop business intelligence for sales opportunities. Work with Operations Customer Service and Procurement to ensure new customer onboarding runs smoothly.
- Search and recognize prospective target customers both based in Europe and locally in Greater China. Performs regular (daily) visits to qualified prospects and customers.
- Meet sales goals (revenue, profit, volume), provide sales pipelines, and keep management up to date on market conditions. Sales goals are both at personal and Greater China level.
- Self manages various administrative aspects including expense reporting in accordance with company’s budget and travel policy.
- Other duties may be assigned during the employment period.
Mandatory Requirements
- 5 years + in logistics & international transportation, freight forwarding (operations, sales, or combination). 2 years + within the Germanic Tradelane.
- Knowledge of the local and Germanic market by air, ocean and possibly rail. Both Import and Export.
- Demonstrates self-management, negotiation, and customer satisfaction skills. Understanding of P/L is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a business environment characterized by complexity, ambiguity and rapid change. Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management and presentation skills (written and verbal).
- Demonstrates ability to effectively resolve customer complaints and problems and restore or maintain business supporting fellow colleagues.
- Knowledge of English is absolutely required.
- 20% travel is required.
- Computer Skills: MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), basic typing skills, ability to learn and use new applications.
